About Terps Racing

At Maryland, Terps Racing is one of the most popular student projects in both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the A. James Clark School of Engineering.  Established in 1982, Terps Racing has participated in over 60 races.  The program gives students the opportunity to develop fabrication, project management, and teamwork skills.  With both the Baja and Formula teams, students are engaged through hands-on experience, team-building, collaboration, and much more.  The team has a full machine shop and assembly space with a variety of metal working manual machines and CNC machines that we have exclusive access to.

Anyone with a good attitude is welcome to join the team, and there is no formal application process.  Freshman are both welcomed and encouraged to join as soon as they can.  All majors are welcome.  With Terps Racing, you get out what you put in.  Show up and speak up, and you will have an unmatched experience.

Our lab is located at 1225 J.M. Patterson Hall.
